Marital Issues

Very often I will find myself in a conversation with Brett and think to myself, "this is the most laid back relationship I have ever been in."

I can count on one hand what I would call "real" arguments we have had, I could also tell you what they were about but I'm not up for airing dirty laundry today. I will say though that those few instances had nothing to do with either of us personally. That may have revealed a good bit.

To reiterate the point that we don't fight, here is just a sampling of an average Jones' marriage argument:

me:  im back on the mission to find a dragon con houtel
hotel**
 Brett:  No
Stick with finding a Houtel.
Also, Chad said he lives about 10 minutes away from dcon on the weekends and has an extra room
However, that would then require us not getting totally sloshed.
 me:  haha
well we can take turns perhaps
 Brett:  ?
 me:  you drink one night
Brett:  What is this "take turns" you speak of?
me:  I drink the next
 Brett:  I DRINK ALL NIGHTS
 me:  ya ya whatever
that's cool too
Brett:  I WILL MAKE YOU INTO A HAT!
me:  Ill get drunk in the mornings so ill be sober by night time. Problem solved.

Nerd Alert

Things that may indicate that I am a nerd:

  • I know that dragon con is 162 days away.
  • My favorite shirt in my closest isn't designer. It's batman.
  • I appreciate, understand, and would actually like to Steampunk a good portion of my wardrobe.
  • I actually look forward to going to the comic book store with Brett and Adeline.
  • History is my friend.
  • I enjoy talking to dead people ( ok that might be more creepy than nerdy).
  • I revel in the fact that my friends are way smarter than I am. And I brag about their smartness.
  • My glasses are a necessity, not an accessory. Damn hipsters.
  • I've never seen an episode of: the bachelor, a desperate anything, one tree who gives a shit, dancing with the sellouts, etc...
  • I do watch, and repeatedly watch: firefly, finding bigfoot, the walking dead, the big bang theory, and add here anything related to cryptozoology.
  • I can almost understand half of the crap my husband says about dragons, and video games. It has been a steady progression, but I've come a long way.
  • Mentioned it elsewhere, but I never, ever, ever, played sports in school. I did play the alto saxophone in the school band though.

Throughout high school I was more of a closet nerd, I now embrace every little bit of nerdy-ness. Because I am a firm believer that nerds make the world go round. Believe it. If you doubt it, put down your iPhone right now, or walk away from your computer screen. Don't hop in your fuel efficient car, dont update your facebook status, don't tweet, maybe snag a smart water, youre gonna need it.

Go Count Yourself!

While being our usual ridiculous selves in the hotel room this weekend at Dragon Con , my sister, niece, and a friend were having a good ol time making each other laugh. You know after a long trip or weekend with friends there are bound to be numerous inside jokes made, theme songs designated, and the like... Well this ladies and gentlemen, would be our song:

watered down Dragon Con 2010

Why do I say this Dcon was "watered down" ? Because this was my first Dragon Con completely sober. I barely made it out alive! I know that it is tougher to hike around in combat boots when you are lugging a person around in your uterus, but good god that was one hell of a weekend!

I did get to see a lot of stuff that I don't always get to see though. I got to talk to a lot of artists and see a lot of panels that blew my mind. I bought some kick ass artwork from said artists. I had met one of the talented artists at the paranormal conference we went to a few months back - Paulina Cassidy. One day I will be a proud owner of one of her sweet tarot decks! But for now I have this:It is called ' A Kiss for Each Tiny Dragon' How perfect! I have 3 dragons( the pups) and Adeline can be my 4th little dragon.
Speaking of which, I even picked up some gear for Ms.Adeline (like a spectacular monster onesie from this guy. Along with some borderline creepy children's books, and a wonder woman onesie).

All in all it was a great weekend, and I got to crash in my sister's hotel room - which wasn't a bad deal at all! I don't think the amount of awesome costumes and general crazy pageantry will last me for the next 365 days, but that's alright - there is always next time! And next time will may be accompanied by a little drinky drinky ;)

Oh.My.Con.

197 days until the biggest 4 day party I generally partake in goes down.
That's right, I go to Dragon Con.

Usually we wander around with our paranormal crew. It is the one weekend that I take no responsibility for my wardrobe, what I eat, what I drink, or where I wander off to. It is amazingly spectacular. I generally like to stock up on Goodfellas cheese pizza and enough beer to sink a tiny ship. This year I kinda mixed it up a bit, as you can tell from a few messages I may have sent out!Oy! These messages and shenanigans prompted this Christmas gift:
Which was possibly the best Christmas gift ever!

The next step for planning this years trip...what or who do I want to be? I kinda want something ninja/catsuit-ish. (But I can't be too stealthy or Brett won't be able to keep up with my drunk little ass) Decisions decisions. Last Dcon I made a princess lolly costume. Which was quite efficient, tiny, and cute. Dcon occurs in September...in Georgia = ungodly hot and humid. So less is more when it comes to costuming!

Any ideas or suggestions for costumes for me or the big guy are welcome and appreciated! I can never seem to con Brett into playing dress up. Sigh.
